“Exploring the Benefits of Assistive Communication”

This study was conducted from June 2023 to April 2024 in Sweden by Augur and Health Economist John Moshtaghi Svensson, and commissioned by Dynavox Group. Participants could use any high-tech AAC tool from any manufacturer.

Sweden Study Participants

Pre-study interviews
12 physical/digital interviews with users of various high-tech AAC brands and/or their caregivers, in addition to 5 Swedish speech therapists who prescribe high-tech AAC tools (29 participants in total). 

Online survey
81 online interviews with users of various high-tech AAC brands and/or caregivers/assistants.

Key Findings

The Sweden version of this health economic study details findings broken down by condition and type of group impacted. The study shows that assistive communication is an investment with measurable returns and clear economic benefits to society.

Top-level findings show that investments in high-tech assistive communication solutions for people in Sweden with disabilities:
